Holiday Gift Guide for Everyone as Stumped as I Am

I personally love giving presents, even more than receiving presents, and I feel like I used to be so good at thinking of the perfect gifts for everyone. The past few holidays, though, I’ve felt stumped about what to get everyone. Luckily for me (AND YOU!) I’ve had a spark of inspiration and I’m going to share it with you! So here’s my gift guide for when you literally cannot think of what to get someone. (If anyone I know is reading this and happens to get one of these gifts for Christmas, act surprised xo)

Dune Jewelry Co.

I’ve worked for this company on collaborations and I absolutely love them. I’m so glad they reached out to me because this is seriously one of the best present ideas and it works for EVERYONE. You pick your piece of jewelry (or other items; they have wine stoppers, picture frames and more) and then you can choose to fill it with sand from quite literally anywhere in the world. They have thousands of locations, or you can send in sand of your very own and they’ll put it into a piece for you. Perfect to remember vacations, previous homes, or other sentimental spots.

Mapiful

Another company I’ve worked for and absolutely LOVE! This is another great way to capture memories or other sentimental places and display them right in your home. They also have zodiac maps, star maps, and text art so you can really get creative with how you want to see these memories come to life!

Mike’s Hot Honey

I found this item on every Buzzfeed gift guide and was stumped on what to get my dad and brothers for Christmas last year so I gave this a try. It was a hit! It’s a Brooklyn-based business that makes delicious honey with a spicy kick. An awesome present for foodies or anyone who likes to spice things up a little bit. A pretty cheap but interesting gift that might even get opened up right away to start spicing up all of the holiday meals.

L.L. Bean Classic Flannel Shirt

For some reason I’m always stumped with what to get for the men/boys in my life. Fortunately, you can’t go wrong with a high-quality, classic flannel to keep them cozy, warm, and stylish all season long. I even own one of these men’s flannels and it’s my favorite because it’s so soft. They also offer lots of color options, and L.L. Bean always has tons of promo codes and sales going on.

Homesick Candles

A candle is always a great gift, in my opinion, but take this opportunity to make it a little more personal. Homesick features candles with scents reminiscent of places, experiences, and moments you want to remember. This may just be the perfect gift for loved ones unable to travel to be together this year due to COVID.

BarkBox

I can’t make a holiday gift guide without including the most important members of our families! Yes, your pets deserve presents too, and BarkBox will get them just as excited as you are on Christmas morning. You can purchase a subscription or just gift a single month, but each box comes with multiple toys and treats, all with a well-thought-out theme. Millie has loved getting these for the past few months and I know any pup would be happy to get their own. Bonus: it might even keep them occupied enough during your holiday dinner that they won’t be helplessly begging at the table (maybe not, but we can dream!).

Laptop Bed Table

Since it seems like everyone is working from home these days, help them out by gifting this AMAZING laptop desk. Perfect for those days when it’s just a little too cold to get out of bed, but you still have to log on and do some work. This table is spacious enough for your laptop plus a nice mug of coffee or tea, and it even has a little ledge to rest your phone or tablet (with a hole underneath to plug it in while still being upright!) I’ve been using this gem for a few weeks now and I’m obsessed. Virtual grad school has never been easier.

Parks Project Merchandise

I recently found this awesome site through a targeted Instagram ad and I am so glad that my devices know me so well because I now want EVERYTHING. Seriously, everything is so cute. Perfect for the adventurer in your life who can’t wait to get back to traveling and exploring every corner of the country’s wilderness. EVEN BETTER: A portion of proceeds from every item goes directly to funding various conservation efforts and education opportunities in National Parks. Shopping you can feel good about? Yes please.

I’m also including some basic ideas to help you get started if you’re a college student or just someone on a budget:

College Apparel

This was my go-to when I was in college because it was so easy to run to the bookstore on campus and pick up some goodies before heading home for winter break. Especially your first year or two, family members love that stuff. Nothing like a good crew-neck with your school logo on it, right?

Unfortunately, the novelty can wear off of this one kind of quickly, and once you graduate you’re kind of screwed. So use this while you can!

Baked Goods

The hardest part of the holiday season is all of the money you spend and all of the people you feel obligated to give gifts to. This can be easily solved by making a huge batch of baked goods and packaging them up to distribute to the various people in your life. Just try your best to present them nicely and hopefully they’ll taste good too.

DON’T FORGET TO SHOP LOCAL WHEN YOU CAN!

Most of the ideas on this list are small businesses, so let’s try to focus on supporting them and other local businesses instead of continuing to funnel all of our money to Jeff Bezos. Obviously Amazon is super convenient and it’s unrealistic to expect anyone to stop shopping from there altogether, but try to make at least part of your gifts come from local vendors! The presents will be way more meaningful and they need your business now more than ever.
